When doing rods and pistons, it's a good idea to replace the rod bearings as well. Proper support via main bearings is crucial to prevent oscillations and wear that can damage the crankshaft and other components if the motor should move out of balance. ACL's high quality rod bearings will prevent fatigue, failure, and reduce drivetrain stress through their durable and strong design.

Know What You Are Buying:

Subaru rod bearings are specific to either a 48mm or 52mm journal size. Journal size is not VIN or year specific, it must be measured prior to purchase. Please be sure which bearings you need as engine internals components are not eligible for exchange or return.

ACL Main Bearings

ACL Main Bearings

ALC's main bearings are made of a softer metal so that you don't wear out your crank or engine block. Additionally, a thin layer of oil lubricates the connection between the bearings and the crank allowing the crank to "float" and reduce wear. Proper support via main bearings is crucial to prevent oscillations and wear that can damage the crankshaft and other components as the motor moves further out of balance.

Bearings with extra oil clearance will absorb the stress of higher horsepower motors greater, but will see increased wear during start up. We recommend these be purchased by experienced professionals only.

Know What You Are Buying:

Subaru main bearings are specific to either a #5 or #3 journal bearing position. Journal bearing position is not VIN or year specific, it must be known prior to purchase. Please be sure which bearings you need as engine internals components are not eligible for exchange or return.

Pro-A Beam Rods: The A-beam rod is a light weight rod that is designed for high revving motors. It can hold moderate horsepower numbers and is the rod of choice for most street cars looking to push more power than the stock internals can handle, they are rated for up to 650whp.

Pro-Super A Beam Rods: Pro-Super A beam (Pro-SA) rods are lighter than the traditional H-beam style rod, yet still unbelievably strong. Pro-Super A beam rods bridge the gap between Pro-H and standard Pro-A rods, designed for use in mid to high horsepower and high boost turbocharged and supercharged applications. Pro-Super A beam rods allow for more horsepower and higher RPMs with the advantage of a reduced windage design. Pro-Super A beam rods for the WRX/STI ship with standard 3/8th inch WMC cap bolts and are rated to 800whp, they are great for cars that see both street and race driving.

Pro-H Beam Rods: The H-beam rod has become the industry standard design for high-performance applications. Considering the best overall performance of the part, combined with the least amount of weight, the H-beam is Carrillo's strongest, most durable design available. H-beam rods are recommended for race applications where no compromise in performance is possible.

Pro-H rods for the WRX/STI are available with 3/8th inch cap screw bolts in either standard WMC or Carrillo specific design.  Carr bolts if installed by the stretch method can be retorqued as many times as you want and will not need to be replaced. These rods are for 1000+whp race machines.

NOTE: The stroker kit for the Subaru EJ25 engine utilizes a custom, 83mm monster stroke, steel billet crankshaft, not a reworked factory EJ25 crank. Depending on bore size that you decide, the kit will take you up to a 2.71L with a safe 102mm bore. As usual, each kit features custom CP forged aluminum pistons, premium alloy wrist pins, full ring pack and buttons. Big time power and torque gains. Econo rods rated to 600 horsepower, Pro Series rods rated to 800+ horsepower.

NOTE: The stroker kit for the Subaru EJ20 engine incorporates a proven 79mm stroke, steel billet crankshaft, not a factory STi or EJ25 crank. Depending on bore size that you decide, the kit will take you up to a 2.29L with a safe 96mm bore. As usual, each kit features custom CP forged aluminum pistons, premium alloy wrist pins, full ring pack and buttons. Big time power and torque gains. Econo rods rated to 600 horsepower, Pro Series rods rated to 800+ horsepower.

Custom Head Gaskets


The MLS (Multi Layer Steel) gasket is comprised of three layers of stainless steel. Our gaskets use stainless steel for increased strength, its ability to rebound and corrosion resistance. The outer layers of the gasket are embossed and coated on both sides with a flouroelastomer rubber based material (Viton) designed to meet the demands of a variety of harsh sealing environments, load conditions and surface finishes. The Viton coating is heat resistant to 250C or 482F. And the gaskets are applied dry with no additional coating needed!

The center or shim layer of the gasket is comprised of an uncoated stainless steel layer, which can be varied to accommodate multiple thickness requirements. The MLS gasket is ideal for both aluminum heads to cast iron blocks and aluminum heads to aluminum blocks.

The composition of MLS will also withstand the shearing forces created by aluminum heads on cast iron blocks. No re-torque is necessary. By design the MLS gasket promotes an even torque load across the sealing surface allowing for measurable reduced bore distortion

How about a block that can handle 50+ psi?

The T-Sleeve's unique three dimensional support design eliminates sleeve movement under extreme dynamic load. Using the T-Sleeves in your engine reduces the chance of side loading commonly experienced with non-supported conventional sleeves. Sleeve movement under extreme load conditions is the leading cause of head gasket failures.

Notice: Because of possible manufacturing casting defects in engine blocks, there is a risk of cracking the block when sleeving, rendering the block unusable. Therefore, you acknowledge that, you the customer assume all liability and risk if this should occur.


The advantages of using T-Sleeves are such:

-Material: T-Sleeves utilizes centrifugal spun nodular ductile iron. The same material consistency that is used in NHRA funny car and top fuel drag racing engines.

-Superior design: T-Sleeves integrates the deck support into the sleeve offering unsurpassed gasket sealing surface area.

-Save cracked factory sleeves: With the T-Sleeves one can recon most previously destroyed blocks

-Superior strength: T-Sleeves have been pressure tested exceeding 220,000 psi without damaging the sleeves.

ARP 12-Point Cylinder Head Studs

ARP uses a premium grade 8740 alloy that is rated far superior to "aircraft" quality. Each stud is placed vertically in special racks and precisely heat-treated to 190,000 psi, ensuring complete heat penetration. Following heat-treat, each stud is center less ground to make it as close to perfectly concentric as possible. This procedure involves about ten very slight cuts and results in an exceptionally straight part.

ARP studs are manufactured to such exacting tolerances, you will note that gaskets and cylinder heads literally glide into position and are perfectly aligned. ARP studs are thread rolled after heat-treat, which gives them about 1000% (that's ten times) better fatigue strength than those studs that are threaded prior to heat-treat (a very common industry practice). It costs a lot more to do it this way, because it's tough on tooling, but the results are well worth the extra effort. Premium quality parallel ground washers are also included with each kit. ARP head studs are a must for performance engines seeing increased boost, and they are truly the best on the market for your WRX or STI.

Adjustable cam gears deliver the easiest way to dial in more horsepower and/or torque without getting underneath the valve cover, disassembling the engine or dealing with onboard electronics.

These gears are CNC machined from aerospace grade, 6061-T6 billet aluminum for ultimate tensile strength. Easy to read, laser etched face features micrometer style markings for precise adjustment (up to 10 degrees in each direction) and quick tunability.

Each hub is held down by six ARP made, Grade-8 hex bolts for maximum clamping ability. Hard anodized finish prevents premature surface wear.
