Short Ram Intake Kit

2002-2007 Subaru WRX STI, as well as, the Forester XT 2002-2008

With any turbocharged vehicle, the more air you can get in and then out will make you go faster! Of course, there is a little more engineering then that on an intake system.

The aluminum tube intake is equipped with a CNC machined 6061 aluminum MAF piece to ensure proper air flow readings. The intake uses a cone filter for maximum air flow with safe filtering from the outside elements. The cone filter will stay clean and is reusable for the life of the vehicle. The intake is mounted to the frame with a high shine silver aluminum “L” bracket using the stock intake box mount to hold it securely. Connecting the intake to the turbo inlet pipe is done with a 3 inch silicone coupler. As tested using a Mustang Dyno, the intake made an impressive 30+ ft/lbs of torque and 15+ wheel horsepower gain in the RPM range.

The intakes are available in Wrinkle Red or Polished. Intakes are available with either a black, blue, or red silicone coupler. Intakes fit all 2002-2007 Subaru WRX STI, Baja Turbo, Legacy GT as well as the Forester XT 2002-2008.

Note: Because of the wide range of MAF programming, occasionally a Subaru may see a CEL, which can be removed by using engine management. The probability of seeing a CEL is one out of one hundred, but they do happen.

Short Ram Intake Kit Subaru WRX STI 08+

Turbo cars need more air flow to make more power. Not only is air flow important, but how that air gets into your cars motor is an essential factor. With vehicle computers becoming more and more advanced, precision engineered products are necessary to optimize performance. Focused on quality, function, and style, this intake kit for the new 2008 and up Subaru WRX or STI.

This intake kit is a short ram. The kit features a CNC aluminum MAF sensor mount on the intake tube with built in fins to keep air flow laminar. The intake kit includes a 5ply AP silicone coupler with clamps for easy install. To keep the cool air separated from the engine heat, AP has developed a heat shield which mounts to factory chassis locations from the front crash beam to the fender. The high flow cone air filter securely clamps in place to the short ram or cold air extension tube. The heat shields are powder coated in a textured black finish and the intake tubes are wrinkle red to match the STI intake manifolds.

Tested on a Mustang all wheel drive dyno, the kit gained approximately 10 horsepower and ft/lbs of torque. At the peak horsepower point of 5000 rpm’s, the intake kit made almost 20 wheel horsepower. The intake kit fits all 2008 and up Subaru WRX and STI vehicles.

Increased Power
The AEM Performance Cold Air Intake System produces horsepower and torque gains by replacing your vehicle’s restrictive factory air filter and air intake housing. This air intake system was designed, tuned and dyno-tested to fit specific Subaru WRX, WRX STI, Impreza WRX and Impreza WRX STI models. Air enters the system through an oversized Dryflow synthetic washable air filter for outstanding air flow, filtration and performance. The air filter is located in the original air box space and is protected by a heat shield which is designed to reduce intake air temperature and increase horsepower. The intake tubing is constructed from mandrel-bent aluminum featuring a durable textured red powder coated finish. This air intake system was developed to accommodate the engine’s factory emissions control devices including the mass air flow sensor. The cylinder shaped Dryflow air filter is made from an oil-free, synthetic filter media that can be used for up to 100,000 miles before cleaning is needed (depending on driving conditions). The air intake system is easy to install with commonly available tools and it is backed by AEM's Lifetime Limited Warranty. Some air intakes are not legal for sale or use in California and other states adopting California emission standards.

2015 Subaru STI Evolution Intake

The Evolution Air Intake System for the 2015 Subaru STI that will replace the factory airbox and intake tube. The Injen Evolution Air Intake includes an air scoop and will reuse the existing MAF sensor and hoses to ensure a proper fit and no check engine lights.

This intake features a supernano web dry filter and massive horsepower and torque gains. During testing at Injen, this intake resulted in a +26 hp and +35.5 ft/lbs of torque gain. The Cosworth Subaru High Volume Inlet Manifold is cast from aluminum featuring large tapered runners with radiused inlets for improved air flow. Plenum volume has been substantially increased and tuned for power. Engineered for easy installation and is the key to making big power. The Cosworth EJ257 plenum is designed for use with EJ20/25 engines equipped with electronic throttle control. The plenum is not designed for use with any cable-actuated throttle body EJ20/25 applications.

This plenum is designed to replace the factory Subaru plenum in vehicles equipped with an aftermarket front-mounted intercooler (FMIC) kit. Throttle body position remains stock, ensuring fitment with any brand FMIC kit designed for the stock throttle body and intake manifold. For 2008-2009 Subaru STIs the Cosworth FMIC kit (p/n 20005378) is highly recommended.
